The removal of personnel or units from areas under enemy control by stealth, deception, surprise, or clandestine means. This is done by choosing a method of extraction. The unit performs an extraction as quickly as possible after the mission is accomplished. An extraction site is always planned and coordinated with supporting forces. However, the situation may dictate that the team leader decides whether to use the planned extraction site or to exfiltrate.
