Helocasting

For Helocasting LANO skills are required. In effect this is just like a LANO insertion except into the water instead. It is handled in the same way as a LANO insertion. Helocasting is used when inserting to a river or for areas where a parachute jump is not practical. The helicopter will try to stay at three metres off the water surface and flying at 10 knots. Mission equipment is rolled off the ramp into the water first. The persons who are inserted follow by jumping into the water behind the equipment.

One of the dangers of the helocasting is the difficulty the pilots have of maintaining altitude as the jumpers leave the aircraft, there-by lightening the load. If a failure occurs then the character has hit the water wrong and receives damage to a randomly rolled location. If a critical failure occurs then the character has been unlucky enough to strike something in or under the water. Once again the character receives damage to a randomly rolled location, just more of it.
