Special Forces Encyclopedia provides information concerning the Elite and Special Forces units in the world.

Nowadays almost every army in world history has had his own forces specialised in unconventional fighting. In contrast of what many people expect Special Forces are almost as old the military. In fact almost every unit serving in the military now has been at one point considered as a Special Force. Engineers were considered being the top of the Specialised Units during the most 19th century.

Since September 11th 2001 the existence of Special Forces has become more public. Although in this case we talk about Counter Revolutionary Warfare or Counter Terrorism Units. Besides these specific units many more Specialised Forces are being listed with in this section.
